Messiah's Heavenly Sign

Yeshua’s disciples asked their teacher a very pointed question; “…Tell us, when shall these things be? And what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?” Matthew 24:3.

Yeshua spends the rest of Matthew 24 explaining what to watch for and what to do. And in the midst of His explanation, He gives a clue about the heavenly sign that precedes Him. 

Yeshua divided His explanation into two parts.  The first part (Matthew 24:4-28) involves a list of events that happen on the earth.  These well-known events include political upheaval, cultural/religious clashing and suppression, and natural disaster events, all of which lead up to His imminent return.  But Yeshua makes it clear that these earthly events take place before and through to the end of the tribulation as Matthew 24:29 states.

Then Yeshua shifts to the second part of His explanation which focuses on the moment of His return (Matthew 24:29 - onwards). At this point the tribulation is over, and the world now sees events happening in the sky.  The sun is darkened (debris in the air) which results in the moon not giving any light either.  The stars fall from heaven (asteroids, comets, etc.) and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken (physical planetary laws displaced) – Matthew 24:29.  Immediately after that, there will appear a special event in the heavens – the sign of the Son of man.  But Yeshua does not openly say what that sign is.  Does He give us a clue?

Can we know this heavenly sign of the Son of man?

Clearly, it will not be the same sign used two thousand years ago where Yeshua was in the grave for three days and three nights.  That sign was to prove He is our Messiah through His resurrection.  When Yeshua spoke about that sign, He was very specific that He would be three days and three nights “in the heart of the earth” (Matthew 12:40).  Have you ever wondered why He was so specific in Matthew 12:40 about saying “in the heart of the earth”?  And then to be very specific in Matthew 24:30 that the sign of the Son of man would be heavenly?  He is telling us that the sign at His return will be different and that we must look elsewhere. This is part of His clue to us.  But where are we to look?

This time, we must look up into the sky for we will see our redemption draw near (Luke 21:28).

And that is exactly what Yeshua expects us to do if we are to have an ear to hear and understand His clue.  After the sun and moon are darkened and the stars fall and the heavens have their power shaken, Yeshua says this; “And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.” (Matthew 24:30).

Ever since Yeshua spoke these words there has been a debate about what this sign will be.  Many hold to the theory it is a bright celestial light that grows larger and larger as Yeshua draws near.  They believe this light is the manifestation of the Presence (Shechinah glory) of Yeshua.  Yet others believe it is Yeshua returning that is witnessed by all on earth.  These theories have merit, but they do not herald or pre-announce His return as the heavenly sign of the Son of man will do since these are theories that involve the moment of His return.  Yeshua will be returning as King and His return must be announced, not only to acknowledge His station as our King, but also to give us fair time to do final preparations of ourselves for Him. 

It will only be at the end of time, when knowledge is increased (Daniel 12:4) shall this type of information become understood in a more concrete manner.  And that day may have come concerning the understanding of the clue Yeshua gave about the heavenly sign of the Son of man.

When will the end times happen?

We are in the end times now.  Many of the other articles on the Elohim’s Perspective website provide Biblical documentation explaining that we are in the end times right now.  The 1948 creation of the nation of Israel fulfilled the Ezekiel 37 prophecy of the dry bones, which sets the stage for the end time prophecies to manifest.  It is the 1967 Six Day War between Israel and the attacking Arab nation neighbours that triggered the end time numerical prophecies.  The Six Day War starts the 70 Weeks (Years) prophecy of Daniel 9.  When the Seventy Years prophecy ends in 2037, this starts the finer detailed tribulation prophecies that begins with the stopping of sacrifices and the desecration of the Holy Place.  This event in Jerusalem is the starting point for the numerical count’s of 1260 days for those in Judea to be nourished, and for the rest of the remnant to take part in a greater exodus; the 1290 days when the daily sacrifices are not being performed; the 1335 days until the altar becomes operational again; and the 2300 evenings and mornings when the Holy Place is restored.  These numerical prophecies bring us to 2040 as the year that Yeshua will return in great glory as our Messiah and Saviour. 

What is this heavenly sign of the coming of the Messiah spoken of in Matthew 24:30?

Compared to even just a few years ago, knowledge has increased tremendously regarding the movement of planets and stars in our universe.  When it comes to the science of the celestial objects in the universe, called astronomy, that knowledge has been imputed into computers from which scholars and scientists utilize to track the movements of nearly all the visible heavenly bodies in a manner that was never possible before.  And with the increased sophistication of computers and astronomical programs, there is more access for scholars, scientists, and even the general public to make accurate determinations about where planets are on any given day, month, year whether in the past or into the future.  There are two astronomical programs that are mentioned in this article, one is Stellarium and the other is Starry Night.  Both programs draw their information from organizations such as NASA, NOMAD, JPL, LMCI and other astronomical sources to create an accurate rendering of the locations of stars and planets anywhere on Earth.  It is with the help of these tools that a very strong probability answer can be given to the above question.  We can know the sign of the Son of man. 

The answer is: the heavenly sign may be five visible planets appearing in a T-shaped cross-like formation (crux commissa) which is forecasted to be visible in the night sky in Jerusalem and around the world on Friday August 31/Saturday September 1, 2040 (Elul 23) in the constellation Virgo (the virgin). 

Then seven days later, on Yom Teruah (Rosh Hashanah/Feast of Trumpets) which is Friday September 7/Saturday September 8, 2040 (Tishri 1) – Yeshua will return in the clouds. 

Could the manifestation of this cross formed by the five visible planets be that official announcement of Yeshua’s return to happen seven days later? Yeshua did say that His return would follow the heavenly sign.  It is well documented in the End Time Timeline on this website that the date of September 7/8, 2040, has a very high probability of being accurate as the date of His return (initially in the clouds).  This has been determined through multiple scriptural clues (like those mentioned earlier) given in the 70 Weeks/Years prophecy of Daniel 9, followed by further clues in Daniel 12 and Revelation 12 (among many other scriptures).  For greater detail about the clues, please see the End Time Timeline Presentation Notes that involve five timeline graphics accompanied with written explanations.  

This celestial event of the five planets forming a T-shaped cross on Elul 23, 2040, and is visible one week before Yom Teruah (Tishri 1, 2040) lends an astronomical confirmation to this websites’ end time timeline. 

The crux commissa (Latin) or T-shaped cross that will form in the low horizon will be made up of the five visible planets of Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn.

More celestial events to happen after the sign of the cross

Within a ten-day period between Elul 23 (August 31/September 1) and Tishri 3 (September 11, 2040) there will be four celestial events that will occur.  The calendar below details the Hebrew dates and the Gregorian dates in Israel for August and September 2040 to provide a visual aid of the dates mentioned in this article with added details related to this article.  Calendar sourced from Hebcal.com

Within the ten-day period of August 31/September 1 to September 10/11, 2040, the four celestial events are:

1. The T-shaped cross (explained earlier) is the first of the four celestial events that will occur during this ten-day period (this celestial event has been detailed above).  

2. The second celestial event involves Yeshua actively coming in the clouds in great glory on Yom Teruah, Tishri 1 (September 7/8, 2040) – seven days after the sign of the cross in the sky.  There is a message in that count because seven is the numerical expression of completion and with Yeshua’s return, it means that His kingship has been completed and He is now claiming His kingdom.  Therefore, the cross in the sky that happened seven days before His return is an announcement of that completion. 

On this day, the moon is in a significant position.  It is a first sliver in the midst of the constellation Virgo with Jupiter visually above it and Saturn, visually below it (see diagram below).  The Sun is over the left shoulder of the virgin. One interpretation of the meaning of the planets is that Jupiter represents righteousness while Saturn represents rest.  This grand massing of visible ‘stars’ is known as a “golden conjunction”.  Having these visible heavenly planets plus the moon and the Sun all grouped so closely in one constellation is a very rare event.

3. The third celestial sign happens on Tishri 2 (September 8/9, 2040) which is the very next day after Yeshua’s return in the clouds and is eight days after the t-shaped cross appears.  On this day, the same five visible planets form a rare “golden conjunction” (aka a stellium) in a very tight formation of less than 10 degrees.  This is something that has not been seen for 856 years when these same planets were visible in a tight formation of less than 9 degrees.  That was in the year 1186 AD.  Even then, predictions were made about the end of the world or at least a new era beginning after the conjunction.  And a new era did happen.  In Jerusalem at that time King Baldwin IV died in 1185, succeeded by his young nephew Baldwin V who died the next year in 1186.  The line of succession was in peril which paved the way for the famous Muslim leader, Saladin to begin his conquest of The Land (Israel).  This led to the Third Crusade spear-headed by King Richard the Lion-hearted of England in 1189 and ended in 1191 with a treaty signed that enabled Muslim control of The Land but allowed Christian trade and pilgrimage.

So, we have the conjunction of 1186 AD bringing about a new era in Jerusalem.  And with the next conjunction of the same formation and degree as that of 1186 AD to appear in the skies in 2040, we could see a new era in Jerusalem happen again.  Yeshua’s return in 2040 will bring about a new era for the whole Earth as He conquers and destroys evil and then establishes the Kingdom and the Millennial reign. 

A very remarkable aspect of this third celestial sign that happens in September 8/9, 2040, is that conjunction will only be visible for one hour[i]. 

That is significant when we consider the scriptures of Revelation 17:12 and Revelation 18:11, 17, 19 that speaks about the destruction of Babylon.  Elohim declares that specific destruction will happen within one hour.  So, it appears that Babylon (the whole evil system) may very well fall on Yom Teruah (September 7/8/9/, 2040).  And during the Ten Days of Awe that follows, the merchants will mourn while Yeshua pummels them with His Battle Plan, culminating on Yom Kippur with the battle of Armageddon that results in the conquering of the beast, false prophet, and the red dragon (hasatan) – our deliverance from evil and the ushering in of the new era with Yeshua as our King.

This third event occurs eight days after the cross in the sky of August 31/September 1, 2040.  Eight also carries a very significant message because the number eight represents new beginnings.  Yeshua’s Battle Plan (the seals, trumpets, woes and plagues) are being activated in full measure to wipe out the evil usurping empire of hasatan and begin a new righteous kingdom that sees “…Your kingdom come and Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven”.

4. The fourth celestial sign occurs on Tishri 4 (September 11, 2040) when the five planets create another cross, though this shape is the more traditional cross shape known as the crux immissa.  This formation will be visible in Israel for a very short time of 50 minutes.  The placement of the planets begins with the moon (Luna) by the feet of Virgo.  Moving upward in the wheat sheave is the star, Spica (meaning grain of wheat, spike) with Mars and Venus in the hand of Virgo, followed by Mercury and Saturn forming the cross bar.  At the upper arm of Virgo is Jupiter. And at the top overlooking Virgo is the sun.  Interestingly, seven days after this celestial event is Yom Kippur, when Yeshua defeats hasatan.  Another message about completion – this time it is about completing the removal of evil from the earth and the deliverance of His people from that evil.  

The image on the left shows how the planets are configured just after 8:00 hours (morning) on September 11, 2040 (Tishri 4).  The image on the right is the same configuration but later in the evening (now Tishri 5) at 19:27:33 minutes (7:27 pm).

Why a cross shape as the possible heavenly sign of the coming of the Son of man?

When Yeshua spoke about the heavenly sign of the Son of man coming in the clouds in Matthew 24:30, He purposely used the phrase “Son of man” as the clue about what to look for in the sky.  This is a direct connector to His death on the cross on the Mount of Olives. How?  In Matthew 12:40 as He spoke about His impending death, He spoke the phrase; “the Son of man”.  Thus, when He spoke that same phrase later in Matthew 24:30, He wanted us to remember what He said earlier in Matthew 12:40.  This way He didn’t have to spell it out as to what the heavenly sign will be.  This is how He connected the final event of His death on the cross to the sign of His return, and it became the clue about what that heavenly sign will be.  Ironically, it would seem intentional that the cross has become a worldwide symbol associated with Yeshua ha Mashiach (the Messiah). 

Why would He connect His death to His return?  It is to enable us to know with complete certainty, He is the same One Who had been upon this earth two thousand years earlier and had died for our sins.  The point of dying for us is so we can be made ready for Him to return and deliver us from evil and then marry His bride (us).  Therefore, the cross becomes a very powerful symbol.

Are there any other celestial events happening prior to 2040 that are visible in Israel?

There will be a penumbral lunar eclipse on February 20, 2027.  This is not a total eclipse and may not be noticeable even if the portion of the moon in eclipse takes on a reddish hue.  However, it can still act as a pre-warning to watch the night sky, especially on August 2, 2027, with a total solar eclipse. 

On the morning of August 2, 2027 (Tammuz 28) there will be a total solar eclipse that will be 80 to 90 percent visible over Israel (thus making it a partial eclipse visible in The Land).  The timeline of end time events places significance with the year 2027.  This is the year that is thought to be the Magog invasion into northern Israel as documented in Ezekiel 38 and 39.  Please read “70 Weeks/Shavuots Prophecy of Daniel 9 – An Overview Explanation”  as well as “Gog/Magog Invasion – Results in 7 Years of Plenty” and “Daniel 8, Ezekiel 38 and Beyond” to understand why this particular year may play a significant role in the prophetic timeline. 

Another celestial set of events to watch involves total lunar eclipses.  It has been forecasted there will be three sets of three total lunar eclipses between December 31, 2028, to January 31, 2037, visible in Israel.  These will be blood moon events.  As we know, the blood moon acts as a warning, yet it is not clear as to who this blood moon warning is directed to.  Time will tell.  However, there is another significant aspect of the blood moons that goes beyond the initial warning it gives.  Read “The Stars During a Blood Moon” to understand the role of the stars during a blood moon. 

But another amazing piece of detail is that there are three sets of three total lunar eclipses.  It seems that all three parts of Elohim (Abba, Yeshua/the Word, and the Ruach ha Kodesh/Holy Spirit) are presenting warnings.  The first set is led by one part of Elohim with each part having Their own lunar eclipse to offer warning. The same with the second set, that will be led by another part of Elohim with each One having Their own lunar eclipse to offer more warnings.  As so-on with the third set that is lead by the remaining part of Elohim that has not yet led a set of total lunar eclipses. 

The following are the Gregorian dates for the three sets of total lunar eclipses that span within one calendar year for each set.

1.      December 31, 2028  / June 26, 2029 / December 20, 2029

2.      April 25, 2032 / October 18, 2032 / April 14, 2033. 

3.      February 11, 2036 / August 7, 2036 / January 31, 2037 

These years are of interest.  The first set seem to herald something that will happen in the Gregorian year of 2030, which is immediately after the last total lunar eclipse (blood moon).  This is the year the World Economic Forum has proposed a Great Reset to be implemented by a “Fourth Industrial Revolution” with a goal to start in the year 2030.  This is one year after the first set of 3 total lunar eclipse.  The WEF has been less public about its activities since its founder, Klaus Schwab stepped down, but it probably is still just as active and still determined to proceed with global change in 2030.

The second set of blood moons heralds something to potentially happen in the late part of 2033 and into 2034.  This year involves understanding a portion of the Timeline of End Time Events that is published on this website.  This particular year is a focal point for a set of pre-tribulation prophecies that involves the Magog invasion into northern Israel and the outcome that is a result of Magog’s destruction – namely a seven-year period of ‘peace and plenty’ followed by another seven-year period of famine of the hearing of the word of Elohim.  This follows the pattern of Joseph as he prepared Egypt for seven years of plenty and seven years of famine.  The graphic below gives details about the timing of the Magog invasion in the year 2027/2028 which leads to their defeat by YHVH (Yeshua).  The result is a seven-year period of ‘peace and plenty’ (tan coloured box with headline ‘Gog/Magog Invasion’).  When does that seven-year period of ‘peace and plenty’ end?  In the year 2033/2034.  This period represents a transition into the seven years of famine of the hearing of the words of Elohim.  The end of the famine period happens when Yeshua returns on Tishri 1 (September 7/8, 2040) during the celestial events of the five visible planets along with the moon and the sun. 

The third set of three total lunar eclipses (blood moons) heralds something that is quite significant and will happen very soon after the eclipse.  The final total lunar eclipse occurs on January 31, 2037, and is just 28 days before Purim on February 28/March 1, 2037 (dark brown box on the far right of the graphic above).  This date is VERY significant (according to the timeline on this website) for this is the day that the prince of the people* (the very soon-to-be beast) stops the sacrifices and sets up the abomination in the Holy Place in Jerusalem.  This is the day when the prophetic numerical counts listed in Daniel 12 begin (see graphic below).  All the information related to this moment in the timeline is presented in the Timeline of End Time Events Slide 2.

There may be many other celestial events that act as heralds to the finer details of the end time events which may be presented in a future article.  For now, these celestial events are the highlights. The graphics below show their placement in the early part of the timeline.

Are these celestial events unique enough to be considered as signs?

Yes, considering these signs will be seen in Israel, which is the center of prophecy and prophetic events.  And they are classified as rare celestial events, specifically the T-shaped cross on Elul 23 (August 29/September 1, 2040).  As mentioned earlier in this article, that specific type of celestial event last occurred 854 years ago in 1187 AD.  To show just how rare this sign is, it previously appeared 855 years before 1187 AD in the year 332 AD.  Interestingly, in the year 333 AD, Emperor Constantine I and his mother Helena oversaw construction on three churches that mark the sites of Yeshua’s death, burial, resurrection, and ascension[A].  One is the Church of the Nativity (in Bethlehem), another is the Church of the Holy Sepulchre (in the Old City of Jerusalem) and the other is the Church of the Elenora (on the Mount of Olives).  This represented a positive attitude change in how the new Christianity was treated by the Roman Empire.

Summary

A great deal of celestial information and prophecy tie-in has been brought forth in this article. 

The celestial information in this article is well documented with astronomy associations and websites.  The prophetic information is speculation but since most of the data is based on and supported by scriptures it is considered to be quite probable.  Only when it manifests into reality can we make a dogmatic statement that the prophecy has been fulfilled.  The celestial events documented here add another layer of confirmation.  Therefore, please keep this information in mind even if you are skeptical – that is what Jacob did when his son Joseph spoke about his dreams of the wheat and stars bowing to him (Genesis 37:11).

In the end, the sign of the cross in the sky on Elul 23 (August 31/September 1, 2040) may very well be the heavenly sign of the Son of man that Yeshua spoke about in Matthew 24:30.  And the three sets of three blood moons that happen in the years leading up to 2040 may be heralding that impending sign as well.
